<p>When you look into your future do you expect to see good things that could happen or bad things? Or perhaps you live day by day and have more of a Zen like attitude,letting life unfold without any attachment to the outcome (Ya right! Wouldn&#8217;t that be great!). </p>
<p>I prefer to have an attitude of the first and I&#8217;m a &#8220;wanna be&#8221; of the third and admit to occasionally finding myself sabotaged with fearful and worried thoughts.</p>
<p>Now, here is what I know about having expectations &#8211; good or bad, ultimately no one knows how the future will unfold so it&#8217;s your choice to decide how you want to direct your thinking.</p>
<p>If you are looking into your future and worrying about all of the potential problems that may arise, you may feel a sense of safety, however it certainly isn&#8217;t any fun and it will rob you of your creative juices, inspiration and energy.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not saying you shouldn&#8217;t be a grown up and look both ways before you cross the street. That would be foolish. I&#8217;m simply saying that by spending your waking hours worrying weeks before hand just in case something might happen is hazardous to your health and you will ultimately deprive yourself of present moment enjoyment.</p>
<p>I suppose the upside to expecting the worst is that it may in fact turn out great in the end and you could be wildly surprised. Think about how many exams you were worried about and ended up passing with flying colors! I just don&#8217;t think the negative energy expended is worth the while.</p>
<p>So, truth be told, the gremlins (negative voices) in your head can run wild in a desperate attempt to keep you from harm but in doing so, it means you will live in a constant state of fear. So to avoid possible harm you will actually get the definite feelings of fear and deplete positive energy instead and that&#8217;s just not cool.</p>
<p>I&#8217;d also like to add that I&#8217;ve been the recipient of challenges that have made me start to question how &#8220;secure&#8221; life really is but the deal is, stuff happens, sometimes really bad stuff, and it&#8217;s easy to let our battle scars build and our expectations dwindle.</p>
<p>On the flip side I&#8217;ve also been the recipient of several &#8220;good fortune moments&#8221; which reminds me how powerful it is to fill your positive expectations with enthusiastic energy.</p>
<p>Ultimately the vibration of positive expectant energy has been proven to be way higher and will attract to you many good fortune moments, in the most unexpected ways! Just last week we had 4 young girls come and rake our yard for .00 &#8211; I gladly paid them .00. We also just received an unexpected 00.00 out of nowhere and had my book keeper find me money I didn&#8217;t even realize was there!</p>
<p>So my message today is to start strengthening your positive expectation muscle. Let some enthusiasm out. It&#8217;s a powerful magnet that will attract to you good things.</p>
<p>Or while you are taking the reasonable precautions that keep you safe, ask yourself what is the really yummy stuff in your life that perhaps you have felt inspired about but have not been grabbing or working towards because of negative expectations? </p>
<p>Are you over reacting to worry and under reacting to excitement? </p>
<p>Your Success Assignment</p>
<p>What have you been doing or contemplating doing that you&#8217;ve been worried about? Perhaps it&#8217;s writing a blog, transitioning into a new career, taking a dance lesson, starting a new meet up group.</p>
<p>Take out a piece of paper and write that one thing down at the top. Next, write down what you would really want to come of that situation. What would make this experience truly yummy and make your heart sing? Let yourself go here -no editing!</p>
<p>Now, notice that the sky didn&#8217;t fall when you let yourself indulge in the positive expectancy and visioning. Notice how you felt in your body. Did you get excited? </p>
<p>Last thing, commit to doing one thing towards what you wrote down. Start with a small step &#8211; and expect the best with each step you take. And while you&#8217;re at it, let yourself have fun! Write me and let me know how it goes&#8230;</p>

<p>An aura can be defined as a vibration of atoms that surround a particular person or object and can be seen through psychic reading. <p>In layman&#8217;s term, Zen meditation is letting go of pessimistic thoughts and simply relaxing. In Buddhism, it is a contemplative discipline performed to achieve calmness in the mind and body. Most importantly, it aims for a practitioner to understand the nature of life to obtain enlightenment. </p>
<p>To fully experience positive results of Zen meditation, there are three general methods to consider such as (1) Concentration; (2) Koan Introspection; and (3) Shikantaza. </p>
<p>Concentration is the main emphasis to start Zen meditation. You need to focus on your breathing which is commonly ministered by counting. Let breathing be your shield to any distraction. On the other hand, Koan Introspection focuses on &#8220;koan.&#8221; Koan is an entity used for meditation. &#8220;Just sitting&#8221; or Shikantaza is meditation where an object has no place, instead mere concentration is needed. </p>
<p>Once you have chosen a specific method, then it is time for you to be aware of the common positions undertaken in Zen meditation. </p>
<p>Burmese Position</p>
<p>At first glance the said position looks like a simple cross-legged position. With the Burmese position, you need to situate your feet so it will be in front of one another and let both your feet relax on the floor. You need to ensure that your heels are pointed towards your pelvis. Also rested on the floor are your knees. </p>
<p>Seiza Position</p>
<p>Seiza is the Japanese term for correct sitting. It can be achieved by letting your lower leg kneel. Make sure that your feet are under your buttocks and that your toes are positioned in a backward manner. </p>
<p>Half-Lotus Position </p>
<p>Indian-style with one leg on the top of the other is the half-lotus position. To achieve such sitting position, you need to be seated on an Indian-style of sitting. After which, lift one leg without letting the legs be unfolded. </p>
<p>Full-Lotus Position</p>
<p>Make sure that you are seated Indian style. Then, pick one foot and take it to the crook of your knee. Let it rest, ensuring that the base of your knee is in an upward position. The final step you need to undertake is to bring the other foot to the other knee just like what you did on the first. </p>
<p>After you have chosen a comfortable Zen position for you, there are other important considerations you need to carry out: </p>
<p>- Keep your mouth close. Ensure that your tongue is calmly pushed beside the upper palate to prevent salivation and swallowing. &#8211; Keep your eyes low. Fix your eyes on the ground. &#8211; Keep your chin tucked-in. &#8211; Keep your nose in line with your navel. &#8211; Keep your torso not to lean forward or backward. &#8211; Keep your hands enclosed in a &#8220;cosmic mudra.&#8221; Your dominant hand should be in an upward palm position to hold the other hand. </p>
<p>Zen meditation concentrates on breathing. Breathe in Zen meditation is said to be the fundamental force in one&#8217;s body. Together with mind, the two are considered the reality of life. </p>
<p>With the kind of life people are in right now, Zen meditation may be a helpful act to be relieved from stress and tension.</p>

<p>Zen meditation is also referred to as Zazen. It is a type of meditation that works centrally. It is actually the study of oneself. Most Zen Buddhists are also referred to as &#8220;Zen&#8221;. When attaining enlightenment, Buddha was seen in seated meditation. Today, Zen meditation has come with the same seated meditating tradition. </p>
<p>This type of meditation was pursued for long 2500 years and passed on from one generation to the other. This has been considered to be the most important thing that has been passed on. It spread its wings from India to China, then Japan to rest of the Asia and finally to the western country.</p>
<p>Zen meditation has evolved as a boon to people across the globe who are really stressed out due to the irregularity, chaos and tensions existing in their daily life. It is a very simple practice. You will find it very easy to describe and more easy to follow.</p>
<p>However, just as other meditation practices, it takes your efforts to enjoy the benefits.</p>
<p>Human beings have a tendency to visualize body, breath and mind separately. When it comes to Zen meditation, all these aspects unite as one big reality.</p>
<p>The most important thing to focus on here is the position of the body. The body follows a specific pattern to communicate to the world and to communicate to itself internally. The manner in which you position your body has a lot to do with what happens to you breath and ultimately to the mind.</p>
<p>The most recommended pose in Zen meditation is the sitting position. The use of Zafu or a small pillow in order to raise the back a little is common. It helps the knees to touch the ground. With your bottom on the pillow and two knees touching the ground, you tend to create a tripod base that provides you three hundred and sixty-degree stability.</p>
<p>Here are some of the most common Zen meditations:</p>
<p>a) Burmese position</p>
<p>There are many varied leg positions, you can follow when seated in this position. The first and the simplest pose possible here is in which you need to cross your legs and both your feet rest flat on the floor. Rest the knees on the floor. Now, the muscles will get loose and your knees begin to drop. </p>
<p>Sit on the third of the Zafu pillow and shift your body forward a little. Imagine that top of your head is pushing towards the ceiling, stretch your body, keep your body straight and let your muscles go soft and relax. With your buttock on the Zafu push your stomach a little and keep your body upright.</p>
<p>b) Half lotus position</p>
<p>This is a position where the left foot should be placed on to the right thigh and the right leg should be touched under.</p>
<p>c) Seize position</p>
<p>Kneel with your buttocks resting on the upturned feet that form an anatomical cushion. You can even use a pillow in order to keep the weight away from the ankles.</p>
<p>Follow the Zen meditation techniques mentioned above and benefit from these.</p></p>

<p>There is quite a bit of talk these days in the media about meditation and spiritual enlightenment. Some might even think it is a rather trendy thing to &#8220;be into,&#8221; yet it is doubtful that it will be one of those passing fads of the pop culture. The fact is that there are numerous methods of meditation, such as Zen meditation, that have been part of other cultures for generations, so it is not likely to be a passing craze, no matter how little Western culture truly understands it. </p>
<p>There are numerous meditation techniques that people who are interested and want to learn to meditate can choose from. While all forms of mediation have some commonalities, the techniques do differ based on what part of the world and what culture the particular practice is rooted in. Zen meditation has developed out of Zen Buddhism. It is also known as Zazen and incorporates various seated positions, special breathing techniques and chakras. </p>
<p>The discipline of Zen meditation is essentially focused on enabling the practitioner to live their daily lives in complete awareness of themselves and their surroundings. Through the practice of this meditation approach, people can escape from the &#8220;auto-pilot&#8221; existence that is so prevalent and which robs people of experiencing their lives fully.</p>
<p>When people fall into the trap of operating primarily on automatic pilot, they rarely notice all of the things that are happening around them; even within their own minds and hearts. This certainly can interfere with a person&#8217;s ability to be enlivened spiritually or to be on the path to spiritual development. Zen meditation can help to break the cycle of automatic living and help a person to engage more fully in their own life. </p>
<p>Through Zen meditations, people experience each moment of a day directly and with awareness and responsiveness. They consciously practice being aware of everything that they encounter and try to enliven their senses by paying attention to everything that they might hear, see, smell, feel and taste. </p>
<p>Another way of expressing this concept is by attempting to be completely and fully aware, while engaged in any activity, at any particular moment. Some people also call this, &#8220;living in the moment&#8221; or &#8220;living consciously.&#8221; The idea is to &#8220;become at one&#8221; with whatever they are currently engaged in doing.</p>
<p>Some examples of this would be: when eating, the practitioner is totally focused on the meal and their actions involved in eating; when they are engaged in a Zen mediation session, they stay concentrated on the reality of that moment and they do not allow their thoughts, their feelings, or their sensations to preoccupy or distract them; when they are engaged in work, they only work; when doing routine tasks such as brushing their teeth, they focus on that task and do not let their minds wander to think about other things. </p>
<p>While the Zen practitioner does not have to be engaged in meditation all day, every day, regular meditation practice helps to calm, center and focus the mind so that the person is able to focus and retain keen awareness. The Zen practice recognizes that all thoughts are a natural and beneficial function of the human mind and that thought should not be ignored, rejected or stopped. Instead, the practice allows wandering thoughts to be acknowledged then set to the side, keeping the mind from being carried away by anxieties, worries, fears and other discursive notions. </p>
<p>This method of meditation practice allows the person to enjoy a sense of liberation from the &#8220;pollution&#8221; of negative thoughts that can often cloud the mind and confuse thinking. Zen meditation helps to alleviate unnecessary suffering of the mind and allows the person to focus on truth, clarity and spiritual enlightenment.
